At Lifestiles we know that for owners of a period or prestige property, the roof is as important as any feature.
It protects your family, resists even the worst weather and helps maintain the structural integrity and value of your property – today and for generations to come.
Our team was proud to supply the tiles for the renovation of a mid-18th century former cow barn in Henley-on-Thames, which is used by the current owners as a luxurious, rural holiday let, allowing people to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Set in the Pheasants Hill Conservation Area, as well as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is under the protection of a National Trust covenant, it was important the restoration of this 300-year-old roof was done in keeping with the rest of the property.
To ensure the new tiles replicated the old roof, we worked with the client closely to choose the Woburn Finchingfield handmade clay tiles, part of our Woburn Clay tile collection, which comes in a range of colour, textures and shade to replicate reclaimed tiles.
The orange/red clay is enhanced and mellowed with a subtle weathered looking surface which fit perfectly into the surroundings without any detriment to the beautiful aesthetics of the existing buildings.
Our clients said:
“It was a nice surprise to find a director of a tile company come all this way to inspect one of their products in situ.
“Finding the right tile was important for a traditional building that is situated in a protected landscape (the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), a Conservation Area, and is subject to a National Trust covenant that affects the external appearance.
“We are so pleased that we found a product that achieved the effect that we were looking for – namely, a new roof that looked like an old one”.
At Lifestiles, customer service is paramount, which is why our company director came out to inspect the tiles in situ once they had been installed.
Mike Chillery, Lifestiles Director, said:
“Our passion for property, customer service and sustainability underpin everything we do, which is why we love to go and see finished projects – and it gives us great pride to see our tiles installed on a roof”.
If you have a tile in mind or would just like some advice, give us a call today – or even pop in. We’d be happy to discuss your project.
