Pelham Structures completed this standout turnkey home a few years ago, and the project has now been recognised as Best Turnkey Home at the Build It Awards 2025. The design blends traditional charm with a clean, modern finish, and the choice of roof tile played a significant role in the final look.
For this project, Pelham Structures selected the Lifestiles Ashbury Multi handmade tile. They wanted a finish that felt established, warm and true to the style of the home. The Ashbury Multi provided exactly that.
This blend brings together reds, heathers and darker tones with a few warm orange tiles, giving the roof depth and variation. Because each tile is fired using traditional methods, no two are ever exactly the same, creating a natural, characterful finish that avoids the flat, uniform appearance often seen with machine-made alternatives. The Ashbury Multi is also one of the few genuinely handmade clay roof tiles available today. Every tile is formed entirely by hand, which means slight differences in size, camber and texture are built into the process. These subtle irregularities are what give the roof its unique, established feel, helping the home sit comfortably within its surroundings.
Now several years on, the roof has settled beautifully, and Pelham Structures have expressed how pleased they are with the finished look.
