Restoring Heritage Beauty with Lifestiles Clay Tiles
Heritage U.K., with over 40 years of experience in restoring and conserving heritage roofs, stands as a leader in the restoration of heritage roofs.
A home in Essex faced persistent roofing issues despite previous attempts at repair. The entire roof was out of square, only a few years old, yet troubled by repeated leaks. The initial builder had constructed a new roof over an existing one, leading to complications and failure to address the leaks effectively.
Heritage U.K. was tasked with stripping back the faulty work and delivering a solution that preserved the home’s traditional and heritage look while ensuring full functionality. One key challenge was the laced valleys, which typically require a meter of space between their finish and the existing main ridge—a space unavailable in this case. Despite these constraints, Heritage U.K. successfully reduced the height and width of the top section, allowing the laced valleys to blend seamlessly into the main ridge while ensuring watertightness.
To maintain the heritage and traditional look, Heritage U.K. selected our Ashbury Multi Handmade Plain Tiles. These tiles blend traditional looks with modern performance standards. The natural variations in the tiles, caused by traditional firing methods, avoided the contrived look often seen with single-colour tiles.
Peter from Heritage U.K. described the project as a rewarding experience. He praised the quality of our handmade clay roof tiles, stating they were ideal for achieving the desired heritage and traditional look.
This project has been shortlisted for the Pitched Roofing Awards in the category of Best Use of Clay and Concrete Roof Tiles so stay tuned to find out the outcome!
