Project Summary
The aged stone starts as a blend of natural stone with pigment staining applied to each individual piece of stone. The stone naturally darkens when fitted and that traditional grey colour is the normal appearance for the aged stone after five or so years.
The best example of this can be found at the Somerville college which is part of the constituent of Oxford and was founded back in 1879. The Porter’s Lodge has been re roofed and the library block has also been completed at the university (see other showcases) using the Cotswold stone.
These stunning buildings have under gone many lives from family homes to military hospitals during World War 1 before becoming part of the Oxford University, with history and elegance in abundance. We at Lifestiles are pleased to have played a part in enabling these buildings to live on and to continue to witness history being made long into the future.
